In a distressing incident, a dog found itself being viciously attacked by two Pit bulls. Greenville County Animal Care was quick to respond and issued an urgent plea for a volunteer to assist in transporting the injured dog to a veterinary facility. Thankfully, our hero, Legend, was soon to be rescued. As fate would have it, two compassionate women happened to be strolling by and heard the commotion coming from a nearby house. Their curiosity piqued, they rushed over to investigate and witnessed the horrifying scene unfold before their eyes. Without hesitation, they immediately reported the incident to animal control and took swift action to ensure the safety of all three canines involved. This act of bravery and kindness ultimately led to the dogs being transferred to the care of Greenville County Animal Care, where they could receive the necessary treatment and support.
Upon their initial encounter, Legend, an unfortunate soul, was found drenched in blood, covered in dreadful bite marks. His body bore the evidence of immense pain and suffering – from his torso being marked with bite wounds to his left ear being viciously torn off, and his right ear hanging on by a mere thread.
According to Rizzo, who shared the distressing account with The Greenville News, the puncture scars were visible on Legend’s upper body, causing blood to flow from his wounds whenever he moved. The situation was so dire that even the veterinarian at the emergency room hesitated to give him a fighting chance of survival.
Although no bones were believed to be broken, the cumulative physical toll of these traumas proved to be overwhelming for the young Legend. As Rizzo poignantly stated, “A little body can only endure so much.”
In contrast, Legend is a resilient fighter who triumphed through his inaugural night in the boxing arena. Throughout several subsequent days, he underwent surgical procedures, received vital fluids, and was supported by a feeding tube. Miraculously, his condition began to show signs of improvement.
Unfortunately, his wounds took a turn for the worse after a few days. Nevertheless, Legend’s recovery continued to progress steadily. Recognizing the increasing demands of his medical care, the compassionate team at Rescue Dogs Rock NYC stepped forward to lend their expertise and support.
Jackie O’Sullivan, one of the co-founders of the organization, expressed immense joy and gratitude over the positive outcome of the situation, particularly that the individual in question is still alive. This heartwarming tale has made a profound impact, and the individual, Legend, couldn’t be happier. Despite having scars and being without ears, Legend exudes pure happiness as his tail wags incessantly, finding the utmost joy in showering Fran with kisses.
“He’s truly one of the most remarkable dogs I’ve had the pleasure of fostering,” Fran affectionately said about Legend. According to her, he craves affection and is always looking for hugs and kisses.
Their bond has grown so strong that Fran finds herself contemplating whether she should keep Legend as a permanent member of her family. However, she acknowledges the urgent need for foster homes at Greenville County Animal Care and understands that she may not be able to continue fostering.
Fran sincerely hopes that more people will step forward and volunteer to foster for Greenville County Animal Care. Their need for help is pressing, and every contribution counts.
In the meantime, Fran and Rescue Dogs Rock NYC are tirelessly working together to find the perfect forever home for Legend. Their efforts are focused on ensuring that he ends up in the best possible environment.
