Pop sensation Jennifer Lopez rocks a cute short wig for her fourth Allure magazine cover shoot and opens up about breaking barriers in the beauty standards of the industry as a curvy icon.
Reflecting on her early days in the spotlight, she recalls a time when everyone else was super slim, but she’s proud to have played a role in showcasing diversity in body shapes in showbiz.
J-Lo, who is 51 and famous for her killer curves, shared with Allure: “Back when I first started, it seemed like everyone had to be ultra thin, but I’m happy to have helped change that narrative.”
At 51, Jennifer Lopez, known for her famous curves, rocked a stylish short wig while discussing the beauty standards in the industry with Allure. She expressed how she feels great about her body despite the pressure to be a waif in the past.
During her interview for Allure’s 30th anniversary, Jennifer showcased her stunning figure in a glamorous photoshoot. However, she also opened up about the less glamorous side of her life during lockdown, revealing her initial anxiety and feeling like she was in the Twilight Zone like everyone else.
Jennifer mentioned that she is grateful for the extra time she has been able to spend with her fiancé, former baseball star Rodriguez, her 12-year-old twins, who she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony, and Rodriguez’s two daughters.
She expressed: “When I first entered the scene, there was this obsession with being super skinny, like the waif look. People were like, ‘Well, you’re not like that. How do you feel?’ And I was just like, ‘I feel amazing about it!’ ” She mentioned that they have been playing baseball and painting together, noting, “We rarely have time for activities like that. I wanted to make the most of this time.” Jennifer shared that it has been a positive experience for the family, saying, “We focused on ourselves. We attended therapy, which I believe was beneficial for our relationship.” Unfortunately, the pandemic forced her to postpone her wedding to A-Rod.

Jennifer shared that the planning for the issue was a massive undertaking, with months of preparation – and it even involved going overseas. Despite the effort put in, she acknowledged that perhaps the timing wasn’t quite right. Throughout lockdown, Jennifer and A-Rod have been spotted frequently visiting a private gym, but like the rest of us, Jennifer confessed to indulging in treats, admitting, “I do sit on the couch and eat potato chips! The key is not to get too comfortable with it, as it’s easy and enjoyable.” Despite her immense success, Jennifer couldn’t help but question why she was snubbed for an Oscars nomination for her role in Hustlers. Reflecting on being overlooked, she shared, “It was a sting,” especially when she saw the recognition she received elsewhere that season. Despite the disappointment, Jennifer emphasized that accolades are not the reason she pursues her craft. In the striking images from her Allure shoot, Jennifer rocked a chic cropped pixie-style ‘do, expertly styled by her go-to hair guru, Chris Appleton, who used Color Wow products to achieve the glossy, high-shine look. Don’t miss out – Allure’s March 2021 issue arrives on February 10!
Jennifer expressed her happiness about being able to spend quality time with her fiancé, the former Yankees star Alex Rodriguez, her 12-year-old twins from her previous marriage with Marc Anthony, and Rodriguez’s two daughters. According to her, love is the only thing one really needs.
Nearly at the altar: Jennifer and A-Rod have had to delay their wedding two times because of the pandemic, which she described as a significant issue. In a photo from 2019, the couple can be seen together.
