One little fact that most people overlook about dogs is that they can also feel cold intensely despite having fur.
This is especially tragic when thinking about many stray puppies who spent a big part of their lives just wandering from one place to another in search of a warm home and never finding it.
In this story, we will talk about a small dog who was pretty cold and managed to find a small house where he curled up and hid from the cold weather.
His Rescuer Found Him
Hanker was just an ordinary pup before his owner abandoned him. He wanted simple things such as food, water, and shelter from the cold, but it was taken from him.
He was struggling for a long time to find that, but then his luck turned for the better when he came across a small house in a St. Louis neighborhood.
Hanker didn’t know that it was designed for feral cats, but there was enough room for him because he was small, so he decided to rest there.
Luckily for him, this caught the attention of a local rescuer, Donna, who works for Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
She had found him resting in the small house and decided to help. The moment he saw her, he felt that she was there for him.
He got out of the house and warmly greeted his rescuer. Hanker was likely very hungry, so Donna didn’t want to waste any time.
It was heartbreaking to see just how malnourished this small puppy was. But, that was going to change very soon.
The kind rescuer took him back to the St. Louis rescue, where he would get to rest in a warm place with a lot of food and water.
Hanker Is So Cheerful
They placed him in one of the offices where he rested on a nice and comfortable dog bed. He seemed so happy to be out of the cold weather.
The shelter staff noticed just how positive he was all the time despite being abandoned, and they were so happy to see him like that. He even enjoyed being around the cats at the shelter.
Soon enough, they managed to find a foster home for him, and everything was going to change for Hanker now.
When he met his foster mom, she was so happy to see him, and he enjoyed spending time with her. He was so happy to be living his life in a warm home.
He even met her dogs, and they became good friends in no time. Hanker’s positivity was infectious to everyone around him.
One of his favorite activities was playing tag with them, and they would do it all the time. He really knew how to amuse himself.
Now, the only thing that Hanker still needed was a forever home. He is just such a happy pup, and he deserves someone truly special.
While we don’t have any information on that yet, I am sure that his rescuers are doing everything in their power to make sure that happens.
